i get one 55 gallon tank and 2 baby arowanas (maybe 2 and half inches) and an albino pleco(1 and half inches). Well the filter i have wont work unless the water level is at least 75% and should i put the 2 baby aros and the pleco in the tank with 75% water and put the filter in there?

You will absolutely need a filter running. Fill up the tank and cover it to prevent the aros from jumping. Best of luck with them.

why would you not want water and filtration in your fish tank?

they are the 2 essental eliments of fish keeping

I have 2 baby Arow's 2 baby clown knife,1 baby Senegal Bichir,3baby silver dollars all getting along in the 29 on my kitchen counter. Now once the Knifes (whom are the largest right now) get a little bigger they will go to the 220. Then the Next will follow them to the 220 and so on. But yes Lots of filteration is needed so dont stop that and fill the tank to the top and cover tightly and they wont be able to jump. Plus right now they wont be able to really jump far so maybe a couple inches off the top if u wanna be safe. What Tank do u have the Arowana going to in 6 months?

i have seen my 3" silver i had jump 1.5' out of the tank and land back in...not as much as the adults, but in preportion that is an amazing feat...they will jump end of story as i said before if you want to protect you silver from jumping line your tank with pillows...water level means nothing to jumping(unless it is to shallow)

If that was my setup, I would fill tank to the top so you can use the filter the way it is intended to be used. Then divide the tank, it is too much room for arowana that size. You might have a hard time feeding them. Or just invest in a 10g and grow them for a month to bulk them up.

okk thanks for the feedback everyone, and i will get a tank that is around 100 gallons when the aro gets bigger.
what do you suggest i use to divide the tank?
also what do i do with the fish food that sinks to the bottom?

ohh and also will the other half of the tank be filtered?
cause the filter is on the right side.

egg crates are pretty cheap u can cut them how ever and find them at any hardware store u can cover the tanks with it and make a divider
i myself dont think dividing your tank is necessary(really your choice)
and siphon or scoop that extra food out it will make nitrates got up in time
and i dont think a 100gal is big enough the with on the 100gal longs are about 16"-18" full sized aros are about 3ft in cap i would say 26-30" it would be very cramped turning

and will the current from the filter water coming down bother the aros?
