i don't have exp with that pleco...go to planetcatfish.com and find your pleco...they will tell you everything you need to know about that sp. some plecos don't just eat algea...some don't eat it at all...infact commons actualy get to be some excellent predators when they get to a good size and they stop eatting algea...
okk so my aunty brought home 10 tetras and she put them in my aro tank without telling me.
will the tetras harm my 2 and a half inch aros? do i have to take them out?
@keonigt - dude.. chill.. how big are the tetras (do they look like they can fit into the aros mouth).. and how big is the pleco.. it is fine with plecos on the surface or moving up the glass.. do you feed the pleco? At this size your aros are still small.. i'd recommend you to take out the rest of the fish.. but if they are really tiny keep them in there.. they might have fun tryin to catch their own food..
@sbuse - OMG.. 24+ in a year.. what the hell have you been feeding that fish dude.. btw how big was he when you got the aro..
i tried feeding the pleco but it wont eat my algae discs. ill try feed it again after i turn off the lights.
and the aro is slightly bigger than the tetras
Cool.. leave them in there for a couple of days and observe.. your aros will grow super quick.. just keep feedin em right.. pleco will adjust and take.. patience and time..
arowanas especially silver ones are quite hardy, no matter what people say about them.. they are not difficult to take care of and 1 yr to grow from 2 inch to 24 inch is impossible.. you must have bought it when it was bigger.. i think your tank will last 8 months.... and a year ifyou really push it. people keep arowanas in similar tanks for their whole lives and the fish are still very capable and happy... just because you have a bigger tank doesnt necessarily mean you treat your fish better or they like it more.. just my opinion, but i do agree that a arowana needs a 200+ home..
thanks for the replies guys. and i was watching the tetras and the aros, the tetras would swim into the aros and swim real fast away once they touched the aro haha. but im thinking about taking them out because i want the aros to adjust without having 10 tetras trying to swim into them.
