Tomorrow I go to buy my first ever Arowana. It is about 2.5 inches so i know it is still very fragile. It will go in a 36 gallon grow out before going in my 240. He will get 2x weekly 50% water changes and will be housed with a swordtail and baby guppies in his grow out. The temp is currently ~80f and he will be getting freeze dried blood worms and krill to start. All gaps in the tank have been covered heavily so he will definitely not jump. If anyone has any tips or things that worked for them please feel free to chime in. I want to keep a log of his growth and progression and will keep updates on him on this thread. I would really appreciate any help from you seasoned arowana keepers. I really want to be successful in being a responsible arowana keeper. Thank you in advance for any suggestions

aslong as he doesn't have his yolk sac he should be fine just keep him well fed with the water changes and make sure nothing bugs him, and he will be fine :D

I haven't raised them, but I want to and I've tried to read a lot of posts from others. (I think I recall it correctly, but others can correct me.)

Do you know what he has been eating? If not, I'd be prepared with some other live food in case the guppies aren't appealing. Also, probably keep the lighting low, have lots of "safety" plants to hide in and keep traffic away from the tank. It seems like keeping stress levels low and getting it fed is a major aid in the break in period.

Live brine shrimp live bloodworms to start out. Feed a couple times a day. Don't do big water changes when they are that small. A drastic change in temp will not go over good. Any baby arowana that I have grown from that size I have started in a 10 gallon tank and done very small water changes once a week. I have raised a few and never lost one that I was growing. Good luck they are truly my favorite fish

Its better you do waterchanges at 20% every week...
Touch chanhe in the water can effect this aro as
It is small...

Stay away from crickets for a while. The exoskeleton may be too tough for them yet. Do the brine or bloodworms for a few weeks to pump it up and get the fish thriving. Then slowly introduce freeze dried or frozen food
