Baby Arowana Tomorrow

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
several years ago, I had 3 juvenil and it was very easy to train them to pick up food directly from my hand. They were eating dry food (hikari stick for aros) and some guppies. You can also give small piece of fresh shrimp

I just got a baby 5 incher and he will only eat pellets. I have tried shrimp, worms, fish fillet, ect. But he just wants the pellets which I guess is not a bad thing. I would like to convert him over to fish fillet and shrimp though due to it being more economical, especially the fish. I feed my rbp a stable diet of bluegill and they are thriving inexpensively.

This aro continues to amaze me. He's eating anything that hits the surface of the water. I even saw him trying to eat a floating plant when there were bloodworms around. I dropped in some very small pieces of pellet today and he ate them with gusto. His fins are kind of ragged because they were being nipped in the store but they'll grow back with time. I'll try to post some pictures tomorrow

Very good to hear, as he grows you can expand the menu. If he seems to start neglecting one food in favor of another, which is a good possibility with live feeders or crickets, then stop feeding the favorite until he readily accepts the other foods.

Will do. There are actually two feeder guppies in the tank with him and he hasn't made any attempt to eat them yet. I know he will with time, but for now all he has eaten is prepared food which makes it easier for me. If he stays this way he's going to be big enough to go into the larger tank in no time!
