First off, what are you doing about temps,I know nothing about these guys but just make sure it can get the amount of belly heat it needs to properly digest its food.Second, just some branches would look cool,Im mostly concerned about warmth,mostly.3rd,Ive seen more snake pics than I could ever remember but these pics of this little guy and his colors and such are some of my fav.He is awesome looking, now I want to look into them more.Rad little snake, hope it does good.

what does it act like?Is it crappy like a garter snake or more like a corn or something. If you look for pics on google image you get cotton mouths sometimes, lol, these look real sweet as adults too. They look a bit like a cotton mouth.

Mampam- Looks good! He's a cutie. I think you've covered it; a branch and a plant for cover are about all he needs now to have a perfect cage. You might also give him a moist hide like some folks have for geckos- just a covered container with some moist sphagnum or coconut substrate that he can get in and out of.

Jason- Nerodia do fine at room temp; auxilliary heat won't hurt but isn't necessary. They're famous for their bad tempers, but most captive individuals calm down quickly.

Mampam I agree great looking snake . I myself hate that type substrate as its paradise for insects -has splinters and if snake ingest it its dangerous.

Consider shreded coconut substrate instead like eco earth blocks they dry if eaten its safe and substrate in time winds up being ingested.

Its soft no splinters and super easy to spot clean. A block gives you lots of substrate and its great to dig in as its like soil.
