Unfortunately I don't have any Aro experience and can't lend any useful information, but if you decide to move forward with them, I'd encourage you to post a blog on you progress. I'd be very interested to learn about how you care for them, specifically feeding, temperature, water parameters, etc.

For the best I think.
People are not defensive "about something as basic as black vs silver", people are defensive when some self proclaimed know it all, starts calling people amatuers!

For the record, I never called anyone an amateur. I said that so much misinformation on a basic topic makes the forum look like an amateur affair.

This whole thread is pathetic in my opinion. The OP was asking for opinions and advice. Instead, the experienced and knowledgable members chose to use their experience to demean others with less experience.

This is incorrect in my case, as I have zero aro experience. I've never even sen one until just last week and I can tell them apart already. Thats why I was so surprised that experienced aro keepers could not.

Lets just say if I see those for $25.00 at my LFS, I'd buy all of them. This topic does have me questioning the difference between the 2, but I still put all my $$$ that they are blacks. If you can wait, wait a week or 2, if it stays dark, its a sign of black, if they start to wash out, even at $25.00 they are still decent deals. silvers are going for $39.99 around here, of course it's bigger, but still. $25.00 for black or silver it's still a good buy. take the gamble.... I would!

Really your telling me that just last week you were able to view a baby black and baby silver side by side. You now can tell difference just from that brief experience?

No, I have studied them online previously. Seeing them last week was my first live experience.

Are you sure that what you seen were baby black aros, as well as the baby silver aros. Was this at one of your LFS?

Yes it was at an lfs and it was only two silvers. I learned about them online, not in person. I only mentioned the lfs to point out that I had never seen live aros before.

hahah awesome thread. I have had both silvers and blacks as babies. Photos can be misleading. Im saying its almost certainly a silver. Personally i wouldnt buy a aro with a yolk sac, especially not large ones like that. But that being said aros are common around where i live. Id love to see what the op says was the outcome! I also think everyone has the right to a opinion, whether said opinion is stupid or not. Isnt that wht my grandpops died for?

So in other words, we have yet another pro regurgitator... No experience, just pure regurgitation...
