This VHS is threatening to both fishing and fishkeeping world by set up regulations about collecting/fishing. This VHS are mostly likely carried by boat, baitfish, released aquarium fish and dumped infected gamefish to other lakes. VHS can cause some fish species death. Which that is why we shouldnt release/dump any fish to different water, therefore it is illegal. I hope you have plastic or liner for your pond, not natural pond., otherwise the VHS can possibly get in ground water but i dont know about it. WI banned fish collecting because of VHS or at least i heard.

Bullhead catfish are not generally stocked in ponds, but do arrive occasionally as extras. I would be willing to bet that he is talking about channel Cats, or possibly blue catfish.

spotted catfish can be found from time to time as extra's in ghost shrimp shipments that is where i got mine from.

if you really want one I would go and talk to any LFS in about an hour drive, and give them a picture of one and have them call you if they get one in a ghost shrimp shipment. I have seen 2 in the past year. I think both came from a fish farm on the GA/FL line. (where they are native)
Black, yellow, and brown bullheads also show up as extra's

I was not even sure about exactly what I had until recently, I had it narrowed between a flat bullhead and a spotted

here is a picture

before you get any fish make sure you can house it and read up on it so you can properly care for it

Yeah but flat, snail and spotted bullhead are very rarely used for stocking or even as extras in channel catfish shipments, let it alone a pond was stocked with spotted bullhead. I will bet that pond full of stunted bullheads.

o ok i get it now so would it b okay if i put some in my fish tankk since they r already stunted?

You know, stunting is unhealthy for fish and is another way to spell "DEATH"

Are you serious!!??

true. you cannot sell any type of fish that is native to WI without proof of purchase.
also all water and see weed must be drained/removed from boats or you can get a huge fine. <- that might be for a different reason..

if i were you gar man i would look into a different type of catfish. a favorite of mine is raphael catfish. they're nocturnal though.
one i have been meaning to get for a long time is a pictus catfish. they swim around like crazy. really neat when the lfs has a tank with about 20 of them.
