That's not an irritans. Looks like a marginatus to me. The fin extensions on the 3rd and 4th ray say marg all day. It's shaped like a marg too...

yeah and when I keep reading it seems GG agrees. He's forgotten more about P's that I'll probably ever know.

I think the reason he knows more is because he had kept them all. once you get your own place then get those tanks setup and you can be GG#2 lol.

oh did you hear back from DAS on that 3D aquarium? what's the story??

the 3d people won't sell me a tank. Aint that some isht!? As of right now I might be able to talk the fiancee into not only letting me setup a tank in the new (temporary) place, but I may be able to wrangle a 40br/50br combo stand + tanks. Just means I can put Darwin in the 40g breeder and in the 50g? We'll see. She talked to her boss and they might make Darwin the firm mascot. Can you imagine walking into your plaintiffs attorney's office to talk about suing an employer and there's a full grown Darwin lurking in a 75g in the lobby? They already call 'em sharks (lawyers I mean) I told em I'd do all the maintenance they just need to buy a 75g tank. We'll see. I'm working on 'em.

Maybe I'll shell out the loot and get a tax id number for "Killa Tetras Inc." Maybe then they'll sell me a 3d tank. Hey I'm planning on breeding spilos anyway. I'll need some sort of business entity to sell the fry.

dude that's messed up. I guess they just made too much money in the past and not interested of making anymore. I would ask lfs to order one for me if I really want to get one. but probably cheaper to build one massive pond with a viewing window.
that would be nice to have a big piranha to in the lobby. lol hope things work out for you. this way you can be in charge of taking care of him (maybe with a little pay). hope things work out for you man.

when we finally stop living in tiny flats in the city and buy a place in DC (we own a place in another state ATM) I'm looking at one of these. I'd rather have the full on 3d setup, but this is nearly as cool:

you think that'll work for breeding the more social serras, macs/spilo?

that would be sweet. Shark Aquarium has one that size as their display tank with a center overflow

it's the 4th and 5th pics.
I think that would be awesome for breeding more social serras. if you have the space go for a 6ft x 6ft x3ft with a massive shoal of caribes. lol that would be so impressive.

yo instead of those three reds, i might get that 8'' marginatus from shark aquarium when i go tommorow, if he doesn't have no nasty chimple and has that huge mouth that they come with im going to get that, what do you guys think

that would be really up to you, but with solo serras, you pretty much traded in all the ones you had except the BDR. I think you'll be better off with the reds.
I'll see if I can sneak out and go to SA tomorrow too, haven't been there for a long time.

yeah i know but i love my blue diamond i know the marginatus is a beast at that size, and super rare, not to many people have them

like I said, it's really up to you. if you want it bad then get it. I love my old blue diamond too but it's just a bit too small :) good to hear that you'll keep it for a long long time. let me know if you ever decide to not keep it :)
