Baby Giant Gourami

I agree that they are worth it, he seems to have a bit more personality now he's grown a bit. Now he's between 3-4inches so he's growing quite fast, pretty soon i'll have to move him into my 6ft. Does anyone have experience keeping a gg of this size in a community tank?
Aggression wise he is pretty nasty to the smaller severum in his tank and already snaps at me if i catch him in the act of chasing the sev but leaves the black ghost knife and tiny salvini alone.. for now! will try to get some good pics tomorrow as he looks awesome now, pink nearly all over..

i currently have one in a community at about 6in. with sevs, he is def the dominant but respects the other big sevs, i'm also growing out rainbows in that tank w no problems (prly because the gg couldn't catch a rainbow if he wanted to. the gg seems to chase but still be more chase than bite still so i'd say u'd be fine

My Pink was nasty from the start killing 2 adult bosemani rainbows when very small, moved him to a 6foot and he killed my silver arrow, had to remove a large oscar from the same tank as it was constantly injured. Gets on alright with the clown knife and eeltail catfish. Alternatively my RTGG has been fine with other gourami when small and a ST dat currently.
From personal experience and talking to heaps of guys with different GG, in general pink seem to be more aggressive then grey or RTGG and males more so than females.
I would say GG can reach 12inch in 6 months in good conditions.
it's gonna be hard to find a tank mate that your gg wont pick on,they are very aggressive when young,but will mellow out as they mature,my gg doesn't bother his tank mates unless they start to bicker,then he asserts himself as the tank boss and effectively defusses the arguement.please post new photo's so i can see how big your little gg is getting.aliaz666;2326767; said:
