Baby Leopard Sharks

im pretty sure ive seen a leopard in a store way shorter than 24 inches before.... what not for a long time, how long have they been illegal under that size?

As Matt & others have stated - a private aquarist can't keep a leopard shark that's under 36" long in the United States - it's highly illegal to attempt to do so.

Instead of attempting to keep a couple of 12" Leos - try grey smoothies. Although they still won't last long in that tank .


There is a good chance he was so persistant because he already owns the 12" leo's.

Well - I know I haven't seen a Leopard pup in a LFS since 2002. So if I had to guess - I would say it was about 2003 when the Lacey Act (California Law that makes it illegal to keep a Leopard pup under 36") took effect.
