Well you pay your money you take your chances.
im in a no loose situation cos if its not a mekong it can go back
they trouble is the fish are so hard to id at juvenile size. i still kint find a pic of a juvenile mekong catfish?-so without that who's to say it isnt ?
there are many fish that look the same at 5" but grow into completely different looking creatures
i have 7 tanks - 4 at 4ft , 1 at 5x2x2, 1 at 6.5 x2 x2 , 1 at 10 x 2.5 x 2.5 and picking up a 10 x 4x 2.5ft in a week.
im also on with a 10,000 gallon project when i get more funds together.
Im unsure what to do now. i can get my money back or maybe wait a month and observe changes/ eating habits/ size gain etc and maybe hope fore the best.
if no one has a picture of a same size real mekong i cant see how it is possible to make a 100% judgement that it isnt?
yes there are loads of pics of i.d sharks and i will agree they do look similar, but ive 3 id sharks before and this fish is different to them.
I paid £50 for the fish- which as an id shark is expensive, but if i can wait a month and then still get my money back if im not convinced then that might be the best option
I think the point learned is that when something seems too good to be true it usually is!!
Thanks guys for the help and advice
im relatively new to fish keeping but have gained valuable experience and information from the knowledge of people on here- and from my own mistakes lol
