-So, obvioulsy, I want my new baby oscars to grow up happy and healthy. I do an extremely good job of cleaning my tank and keeping up on water changes, so water quality is very high almost always. They are in my 6 ft 85 gallon tank all alone so the only thing to harm them is eachother (which they are all best friends right now). Temp is right around 78-79 Degrees ferenheit. I am pretty sure everything I listed is about spot on for the next year (until they're too big to be together). My main question is in regards to their diet. (as per the title). I currently have to grush up the pellets I have into small pieces because I don't want to go buy baby pellets haha but this is the list of their pellets :
-Hikari Cichlid: Cichlid Gold
-Hikari Cichlid: Cichlid Staple (Growth Formula)
-New Life Spectrum Cichlasoma Formula
-Omega One Cichlid Pellets
-Cobalt Aquatics Shrimp Pellets

I have equal parts of each food crushed up into one bowl, and at feeding time I just give them a little bit at a time until they won't eat anymore, and I will usually give them a pinch whenever they're begging when I walk by. Is this good for now or should I implement some frozen foods (I have frozen baby brine shrimp). Any suggestions or am I good for now? thanks!

Oscars are hardy fish and carnivorous, you can feed them anything that is high in protein. Your feeds looks good to me :) What is width of your tank?

yup, they will eat about anything. but other than pellets, i feed mine ghost shrimps. really increases its growth rate. :)

The oscars will do fine with a staple pellet (nls is going to give you the best results) every day and blood worms a few times a week.Once they reach 5" (which shouldn't take long) you can add dried krill to their diet.

I disagree, Oscars are a opportunistic omnivores, in the wild they eat what is in and what falls into the water, be it plant or animal. they require varied diet of vegies and various animal matter. Hykari cichlid pellets are good, you are looking for no more that 45% protein. While feeding a young Oscar high protein will increase growth rate some what it is not good for them and will shorten there life span. Also keep in mind Protein converts directly to nitrate load in tank. my Oscar gets Pellets first, then a treat a few times a week, be it peas or other vegies or large meal worm or night crawler. Now my jag, she a meat eater!!

how big the Oscars now? they make pellets they can eat if over 1.5 inches. they got big mouths!, lol

They're a little under 1.5". And I'll probably still crush their food because I don't want to buy more hahaha I'm kinda money tight right now. lol maybe if I get super tired of it.

just noticed tank size, 6ft and 85G? not a good tank for Ocars, great for a reef tank.

I have 3 babies. A tiger, a red, and a white tiger. They're 1.5 inches along now. One Oscar will be fine for life. I'm just narrowing it down to the one I like best. My tank is fine. Its 15 inches wide, which isn't what some people find ideal but for like 80 percent of its life it should be perfectly comfortable. And if need be someday I'll upgrade. Don't go bashing people's stuff saying it's not good enough. There are better ways for it to be said. Anyways, my fish are doing great. They're little pigs that don't ever seem to be full. They're always begging for more food. Haha
