if you know your water is good, tank is good. then yes. I can question you up and down. but seems that has been done already.

This is what you need to do. Test the water that they are in at the pet store. If the pH at the pet store is extremely low than you bring them home and all of a sudden they go from a pH of say 5 to 8 that can cause the problem that you are having. It is pH shock. Not many people even focus on it. But I remember 4 years ago Atlantic City, NJ and surrounding area had a heavy drenching rain for 2 days. After the rain stopped all these dead fish started washing up on the shore. Initially they were stumped. But I believe some micro biologist determined that it happened as the result of the heavy heavy rain drastically changed their pH level causing them to stress and die.

We spawned and raised Oscars a few times they are pigs. My wife feared over feeding them but the opposite was what happened. Try feeding them a lot and go a 50 percent water change every other day. The more we fed ours the happier they were and it ended their cannabilism. Yours may just of killed them selves trying to eat each other.
I think the gasping look on their faces is more common than we think. But my advice would try more food.
