i bought two baby piranha each under an inch. i was told they are black piranha, but i am skeptical. i have owned other piranhas, but have only found red bellys that small. i will post pics when i can get a good one. till then, are they easy to differentiate at this size? and how can i tell?

Lol I read your title wrong I came here to see what a baby p.i.d was lol. Sorry I can't help on I.d.

Tiny, but don't look like tiny rbp I've seen. I have seen rbp as small as a dime and they look like spotted silver dollars, and these look different, what they are I have no idea. The reason you don't see baby blacks is they don't breed in aquariums, so they are wild caught. Could be blacks, may just have to wait, they look fat and healthy though

Pics are a little blurry but it looks like a black to me

Mine was smaller here's what he looked like

After a few days of growth they look more like red bellys to me. Though they are the two most confident and aggressive red bellys ive ever seen.
