He's only 3".

He was kind of shy, so i bought some large (healthy) feeders from my work. They are gold and white.

2 or 3 days after i put them in (6 of them) he's been chasing them around like crazy. (which is quite fun to watch)

But the weirdest thing is I have noticed that his noggin has swollen twice as big as it was before.
Now i know that adult RD's will often get the large Nuchal Humps, but he's only 3" long.

Do you think if I took out the gold fish, his head would shrink back down?

Is it brought on by being challenged for dominance or something?

And also, does this mean it's a male? Or do the females have the large humps also?

(sorry for the dumb questions) This is my first RD

yeas it probably means its a male... Hump is usually caused my level of dominance and genes, not sure if it would shirnk but i dont see why it couldnt

:iagree: males get the hump;)

Have you guys ever seen a male at 3" get a hump?

I mean, this thing is VERY obvious and protrudes ever since i put those goldfish in the tank.

It really is. I swear. It looks like a normal Nuchal Hump. A large one. But on a baby. It's totally unexpected.
I'll get a picture when I get home. Probably tomorrow morning.
I'll get home late.

So come back tomorrow to see it. :D
