Success! Crickets seem to be the way to go. After walking through my lfs and purchasing just about everything from bloodworms, super worms, and even some feeders, crickets did the job. Thanks to all for your knowledge and experience. I'll try not to bug out the next time they wont eat...Thanks again guys.
bug us all you want..thats why we are here...besides after you get them going good {growing and eating} it will be time to wean them onto pellets or arow food... so you will need us again... and remenber to cover up with tape every single tiny little hole on the top of your tank...this is when those babies find the smallest opening and jump..later when they mature you need a heavy weight on top... but this is wonderful news...made my day.. keep us updated.

Actually last night when I turned off the light in my bed room, I could hear em plunking on the canopy that I made that has barely a 1/32 of an inch gap on one side and it's 0/32 on the other. I drilled all the plumbing for my canister with a hole saw and there's zero gap there as well. I wouldnt say it's impossible for them to get out because I've heard the story's, but harry houdini would have a hell of a time getting out of that thing. Speaking of which I can see where the theory of DE coming from blunt force trauma to the head could be feasable. They must have hit the lid like 15-20 times and it was pretty loud.

I suppose I may know a few things about this and that. Countless hours on this site and endless others. Thats the great thing about this hobby is that the information is endless and so are the possibilities. Within reason of course.

I never did get an answer to that second question, at this 5-6 inch stage do I still need to feed small portions multiple times a day? Or is the method of feeding till they refuse okay?:screwy:

I do, untill about a foot long....I like to spoil my fish...once this size the fish is very hardy and will pretty much eat whatever......depends though.;)

yes they are growing so i think small portions a few times is okay..one thing though is to get them eating a varied diet..asap.. like pellets with all vitamins etc in it..but for now i would be on cloud 9 that they are eating crickets..

Well I figured I'd put a quick update before I get into football mode:headbang2

They took a few pieces of Krill this morning, one of the two is relatively active. The one that I initially though would be the dominant of the two is kinda just lounging around on the bottom? Every now and then he/she will cruise the surface and pick on the other one a little, but then back to the bottom for a little while. which brings me to wonder if I should put a divider in for a few days and see if that doesnt break that activity, or have silver's been known to do this from time to time and its normal? I've never owned any species that could just sit still for any lengthy period of time. Should this be a cause for concern? All of my parameters are almost what I would call ideal.

if you have a divider then that may be exactly what you need to do...they say multiple arows together you should have three or more to cut down on aggression issues between them.. almost always i have heard two silvers are not compatable while three works out well...
