Baby Umbees!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
That is great! It is wonderful seeing people appreciate these fish instead of bashing them because they're "bruisers" :) How many Umbees did you start with to end up with a pair that would coexist with one another. My pair coexisted about a year but then the male ended up dwarfing the female. He was too much for her to handle. Had to put a divider in the tank to seperate them.

Hi Big Dave, I started with 2. My nephew didn't want his umbee(about 2") anymore and I decided to buy another one from a LFS but ended up being a male. I found female here at MFK and pick it up. I had all three in dividers becuase I didn't want any of them hurt. I am too scarred to remove the divider. They will probably be separated until I cut out holes in the divider so that the female can swim in and out of the males space. Still debating if I should. The female recently layed another batch of eggs and about 30 was fertilized.
