baby Xanthic Jag pic up-date **WHAT YA THINK?**

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
fry bred to fry came out looking normal, no pics but i get them to around 3 - 4inches.

no 1 will no what to do to breed out the Xanthic or even if it can be done, it has never been tryed, the "The P generation would be AA (normal) X aa (xanthic) which would yeild 100% Aa heterozygous (all would look normal but carry the recessive trait). Cross Aa with Aa and you'll get 3/4 with a normal phenotype (AA, Aa, and Aa) and 1/4th would be xanthic (aa)."

may aply to EBJDs but was not looking the same for the Xanthic colour in my "OLD" Jag, MBUNAFISHKEEPER cant even get him breeding .lol...

the Xanthic will be a 1off freak and die in the tank of Howard .lol...

Hi bolty - are the jag pair I got off you F1 from the xanthic male? and is their mother the partner that you sold together with him to mbuna?

What is the biggest offspring you have raised from my pair? - If they havent made it to 6 inches yet maybe they might turn later on... - you should keep track with the people you have sold the F2 generation to and let us know!!

(btw they still arent too keen on eating yet - I think the double trip kind of annoyed them! - though they seem to be settling and doing lots of digging)

yours are from the Xanthic and wife #1, the mental over aggressive b!tch, she killed every fish I put in with her, I got shot of her when she gave the Xanthic a beating one day.

This is the Female I sold to MbunaBoy

The F2 generation (offspring X offspring) should have had a 25% rate of xanthism.

What did you notice when you bred the offspring?
thats all good but getting hold of a female of the males offspring isnt easy, the only one i know left of the size to breed is owned by ia246 and when i inquired about buying the female from him he said he wouldnt sell it and thinks that he is goin to get an xanthic out of breedin ghtat with a normal, also when he did breed her he said that the fry he was selling were Xanthic and that they had yellow in the fins.. well we all know that was bs.. because the xanthic doesnt come out in fish until they mature.

also he said h'd only sell her for the equivalent of $300 and thats more then i paid for the male himself...

I have to say I do not like you lying about me - that is VERY poor form. I am breeding the xanthic carrying female with a xanthic carrying male for starters, not a female like you state.

Secondly I have not sold any fry claiming they are xanthic - I have not sold any at all.

Thirdly I did not tell you I would sell her for $300. I simply said she is not for sale, though if you want to make me an offer feel free. I still have the PMs to prove it

You are a liar and need to learn your place.

(Incidentally for all of the decent people on here (and also happen to be in the UK to make postage possible) the fry from a xanthic carrier x xanthic carrier are now available - PM me for more info - you can clarify with Bolty that I do indeed have 2 xanthic carriers (male and female) and they have bred)

I'd like to second this. Ian's fry are 100% from two fish carrying the xanthic gene.

Sadly Ian lost his male, but Ian's female and my male (her brother, also offspring of the original xanthic male) are currently guarding another big group of fry, so there are plenty more fry around in which to find a xanthic.

Here's my male with the babies:
