Bderick the reason why i do smaller changes is like David R Stated stability sake..
Once when there was a similar case like this where i mixed the water in the bag with the aquarium my other fish had a fungus outbreak. Also i have read somewhere that the water in the bag should not be mixed with the aqaurium..
This is just My way doing things thats why I said "IMO" before the comment..If it was something 100% the right thing to do i would'nt have said it.

I realize it was your opinion, just wonder what your reasoning was for it as you generally don't state much info in your posts. As for mixing the water, what do you do dry the fish completely, if not your still introducing potential hazards into your tank. The intelligent thing to do is quarantine new fish before adding into your tank. Though that is JMO .

I got him at a good price, the owner is a great dude and a fairly new father like myself. Were both happier just knowing hes being cared for. I dont know how long ill keep him for as hes 18" long and my tank is a 48x24x30.

Ill mostlikely get him back to good health and find a suitable owner for him.

Yes,Quarantine is the best thing to do....
Most of the Arowana i get are 6"/8" not more than that and are sometime weak as they have been in the package for 12- 30 hours.
What i normally do is after the aqaurium water is added to the bag and both the water in the aquarium and the bag are almost similar then i just use a net or put it in a bucket with just little water and then with the bucket over the aqaurium i tiit it a little and then just slide it in..
