Babysitting Nightmare

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Sorry Garmama, that really sucks. I can relate though, I was babysitting my sisters 2 girls a while back and one decided she was going to help me clean up by useing soap to clean the fish  "but sponge bob uses soap?". She was more upset by the dead fish than I was so I turned it into a learning exp for her and she has "Her" aquarium now.....its gawd awful tacky but she loves it. Now she is the only 3rd grader I know who can explain the nitrogen cycle. Maybe you could use your ordeal to educate/bond with the little one?

You should make your neice do chores around the house to pay for it

1. Mom should be paying for the damage/new tank - no questions asked. If mom doesnt have the $$ to pay upfront, there should be a payment plan put into place (IMO)
2. Too late for the smushmortion - kid should def. be grounded though AND have to do chores around the house for XX amount of time to "help" mom pay for damages - I'd take allowance away for a certain amount of time as well
3. Bright side? Perfect time for an upgrade :)
4. I would put a request in to mom - to make niece have to write out 100 times on a piece of paper something like "It is not nice to scare fish, I dont like to be scared either - I need to think of how my actions make others feel"

Just my opinion...
Em

I would ask mommy to pay for a new tank (or at least part of it) and have the kid work it off. At 8 years old she should know better than that!!!!

If that was my tank, i would go pyscho on that kid.

Looks like some ones mother is buying a big and brand new fish tank

if you do baby sit her again, you should wait until shes just drifting off to sleep.
Then bust in to the room with a scary mask and a knife, and be like oh i just wanted to scare you to see you move fast.

scarring a child for life that is some sweet sweet justice.

lol.... for some reason this made my day.
