On the plus side I can have as many Asian aros and snakeheads as I want this side of the water ;)
But you choose jardini over them anyway...

I know I know mate I was just winding owens up ;)
I've had snakeheads in the past and would have an Asian in a heartbeat if I could afford one and had space for another big tank lol

Its really hard to get a picture of the Irwinis, but man are these guys awesome. My last one, a couple years ago, would never come out, I never even saw him eat.

I feed my Aro some DIY food twice a day while he is small and when I do, these guys go nuts on the scraps. Their getting nice and fat, already huge growth. I brought them home from the Big Fish Deal at the beginning of the month, one at 2.5" and one at 3" and they are both probably already sitting at 4", not bad for a fish that is supposed to be extremely slow growing. upload_2016-3-31_5-27-42.png

I have 3 irwinis and almost never see them. They always wedge themselves in places I never would've though they would fit. When I was trying to sink my driftwood I would zip tie rocks to the branches. The rocks would hang by the zip tie about 12" off the bottom. I almost flipped when I was taking the rocks down, because I put my hand down the cut the zip tie and one had wedges himself under the zip tie and was nice and snugly fit. Nevertheless don't underestimate their hiding tactics hahahaha. Such intriguing fish needless to say

Yeah, my old one would nudge himself so far in driftwood I had to break it apart as i feared he would get himself stuck!

As much as I want to add driftwood, I think I might just leave the tank empty until they are bigger. They seem to have so much more personality when they are forced into the open. Although, they still hide under the bichirs alot for now!

What kind of sand are you using ?

Like Shook said, that happens to be the PBB and Cong. Im using Red Mohawk Garnet. Its a coarse heavy sandblasting sand. Really good for polys and super cheap if you can find it in your area, around $15 for a 50lbs bag.
