I read on glassbox 1200 lumens.

Here's a review on them as well.

That spread is not bad on the 75. It gives a very natural glow to the tank which is great since you said you were going that route.

The one's I'm getting are 14k and 20k so a lot less natural than your setup but I plan on aquascaping a bit unnatural as well.

You discus are huge!!

This is my inspiration. I'm saving the natural look for my reef.

Dang, how did I miss this thread..Nice project you got going. Can't wait to see it up and running..

Actually R1 Ridah's tank was what really got my interested. Then I found that picture and got knew exacty what setup I wanted to emulate and design.

:)

I got my par38 lights today although they are different from the hotlinked pictures in the previous posts. Awesome nonetheless. I am using them on my reef atm.

I also picked 2 of these guys up yesterday. I've never seen bettas look so good. I also like small tanks, glass, and cool designs. Marina makes a newer and larger rectangular tank, but there were only 2 bettas I liked. I'll probably go buy it anyway and save it for a nice red one.

The white one is a half moon and the black one is a double tail.

Water is conditioning for 2 days now.

I first spotted the white one at a hole in the wall LFS. The black one was from Petco. They actually have a decent selection there these days.

Those bulbs look awesome! I wished them made a white/warm white combo. I'd be all over them!

Can't wait to see pics when its done. Super jealous! One day I'll have a 190g discus tank.

Thanks for the thoughtful comments! I am still collecting parts and working on my reef, but the discus tank is moving along slowly.

I contacted one of the vendors and he said he would be able to pick a group of discus for me so that they are all uniform. I've noticed in some of the pictures there are always a few that have slightly less colorful pigmentation (greyed out etc) and I don't rather them all look sharp.

I've got my eye on these:

edit: Hmm just putting them next to each other to see what they look like together...
I like these but I really like the stripes on the wilds.. I think a bunch of these together might look like a swimming STD farm.

These wild browns look pretty good though.

On second thought I should really base the tank off the discus first and then make compromises on the corys and secondary fish... hmmm Any ideas? I want something yellowish/redish with the wild stripes and possibly some of the blue glitter. I might be asking too much but I'm willing to compromise a bit.

I've always liked these corys, but I'm not sure if the dots will work well. I might go with pandas or just bronze/albinos. I'm thinking 12-20?

I'm not sure if this is it, but I'm hoping the colors come out more. They are looking a little bland and unsaturated.

Updated pic of the white par38 and my bettas.
There's a few awesome bettas I saw on aquabid but $30+ shipping! My room will look so weird with 4-5 small betta tanks. I'm already turning into one of you crazy fish people!!

you must realize that your looking at wilds in a sellers tank. bare tanks for easy maintenence. imo, wilds do not like to be kept in bb tanks. give them a good home and you won't believe how they change.

Another thing, John takes pics of his fish with direct flash, so the colors will look very different when they are in your tank with overhead lighting. the Belem browns are beautiful fish, i've seen them in person in R1's tank.

No real updates on the discus tank other than picking up the novus polish and some application pads- anyone want pics? haha

Here's what I've been busy with.
