First off welcom back to piranhas jdm and nice rbp congrats on the kid. I wuld say that big one is 100% female other 2 male.
 
i hope shes full of eggs..and shes a little darker then the 2 males..but non of them started to turn "black" ..i kinda want to change the substrate to black but i really dont want to bother them really..i also keep the tank covered cause there in my room and everytime i walk up to the tank they spook..so we'll see what happenes in the next month or so

thanks duster hes already startin to act like a MINI monster keeper! everytime i hold him in front of any of my tanks he goes crazy..which is good..gives me a better excuse to UPGRADE! wahahaha

Lmao there ya go. I am keeping my rbp over playsand same as you they turn jet black at times. Just remember hidding spots are always welcome.
 
Mine are black a lot of the time. They shuld turn jetblack when spawning triggers are met.
 
They won't always turn blk when they spawn. Mine are always blk though. Background color, sub color plays a part in this also imo
 
Good point about background color bruner. I got mine painted black some drift wood sand and plants.
 
oh ok i got cha...well we'll see what happens then...i was gunna do a water change later today if im not lazy.i might leave the tank lil more then half full..then put some cooler water in couple weeks later see if that helps
 
Sounds like a plan man don't have to leave it half full tho just the cooler water shuld do it.
