Bacteria/Disease...not good.

you may lose this fish, but you will most likely save the rest if you can treat and do well... I have one get it and healed up been slow growing, but 5 months later the peacock is starting to show color...

i never have to wait. i was born with an over abundance of fish keeping knowledge! j/k good luck. and as mike said, you may lose many fish but its just a speedbump. it takes a few speedbump before you get going good

I going to quarantine all fish from now on...i work at a shop (chain store) so i can usually pick them apart but i guess anything can happen. I had a red zebra randomly get this over the summer and things have been smooth since.

I'm pretty sure the fish that i lost a few weeks after introducing had the same thing so i can tie it to that.

This sucks...the kenyi and zebra were a group of 4 that i have had for over a year. My first tank...10g in the dorm room. But i still have 2 out of the 4 in the 55 now...

Its also weird to have it happen to me since i've been working a a shop i am constantly giving advice i feel confident with and passing on good info i get from whatever sources.

Are you putting him in a Quarantine tank? May I also suggest adding a air stone for extra oxygen. I would put him in a QT myself, add the salt and the prefix and be sure to keep water top notch.
Good luck, hope he makes it.

Do not forget that once something gets in the tank it can stay there for a long time... in the sand or gravel in filter... when a fish gets stressed bam... it strikes again...

Question, regardless of whats happening to the worst off fish...How long should i treat for? With salt and pimafix? I dont normally use salt but will do if its going to help limit the possibility of this reoccurring. What sort of pimafix regimen should i be doing? I figure i will do the 7 days like it says on the bottle...

Well if it doesn't get better you keep treating. If it starts getting better after say 1 week I tend to still use it up to another week. You are using two of the nicest treatments on the fish there are out there, so don't worry about over using. (Though do make sure you are doing water changes.)
