Bacteria/Disease...not good.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The kenyi did not make it. There is a 2inch elongatus in there somewhere with cloudy eyes that i'm going to try and catch.

Otherwise i think medicating now is pretty much precautionary?

Update: At this point its been just about two weeks of salt, melafix, pimafix. I lost a kenyi and p. aurora. The elongatus recovered though. All the others look great.

Question...i'm going to stick with the salt. But how about melafix/pimafix? Should i still add it for a few more days?

Thanks

The last signs were today when i pulled the aurora...i'll definitely keep medicating in that case.

I going to quarantine all fish from now on...i work at a shop (chain store) so i can usually pick them apart but i guess anything can happen. I had a red zebra randomly get this over the summer and things have been smooth since.

I'm pretty sure the fish that i lost a few weeks after introducing had the same thing so i can tie it to that.

This sucks...the kenyi and zebra were a group of 4 that i have had for over a year. My first tank...10g in the dorm room. But i still have 2 out of the 4 in the 55 now...

very very sad.beautiful fish... always quarenteen ..you cannot see disease or bacteria or carriers of diseases.. the only hope one has is to quarenteen and after a couple of weeks if all looks good you are safe..i only added a fish once with out quarenteen and i ended up with bad case of ICK and never ever again would i do that .. no matter how healthy a fish looks..i am sorry and hope you can save the rest.

Ok i have been treating for the past two weeks. So far the symptoms have been fin rotting, rotting away of the scales (facial area), and some redness on the first victim. Could this be septicemia?
I noticed today another fish is starting to show signs, its mouth is starting to appear to be rotting away (this has been the consistent symptom in each fish).

Are there any other treatment suggestions?

Thanks
