lol, when I started feeding the hikari sinking cichlid pellets this is how he's been eating!!! He never did this before I started feeding that stuff. Seems like crack for catfish. All my catfish start feeding the instant it hits the water. They don't even do that for shrimp or anything else

you can see from the vid that he is actually a bit aggressive and has grown some since I bought it.

That is awesome, he has put on some size and seems active. I don’t have any sinking pellets but plan on buying some nls soon. He has been eating some hikiri floating when I see him on the top and will gulp them down until he looks like he will pop and I stop. He has been doing pretty well on tilapia though with the occasional bit of shrimp. Where he hides is the perfect place to put some food on the ledge, he has already eaten a couple small pieces today and there are a few pices on the ground my bass didn’t get he will probably get to tonight. On the other hand my aro is still no problem to feed and eats everything before anyone else has the chance.

I might have to try this as bait once the river warms up a bit.

lol, I guess you could soak them and get them mushy then make some dough balls out of them. Might work pretty good lol. Even my pickest catfishes are eating like mad on it.

Nice report Pbass265. I am glad to read that your grannie has not got burned and that it takes fleshy foods. Do you have updated pics of your fsih and tank?

It is not going to stay on the hook. One would have to use a miniture mesh sack (like the one used to hold fish eggs as bait) or some such.

Here are several pics I have taken, some of the cats some of everything else. The tank looks kinda empty since the bass like to school in the bottom left, the cat hides in his wood and the aero just kinda glides around the top. I sat in front of the tank for about a half hour hoping the bass would move. Now that I’m back to my couch, the bass are back out swimming everywhere. I also have a few from where I was acclimating my bass. Tonight I plan on uploading a vid of the cat eating if I can get him to again. He ate 5 small pieces of tilapia last night so who knows. One of my other tanks is becoming pretty filed w/ mts so I may squish a couple and put them in front of them as well to see if they get eaten. I put one in front of him earlier and haven’t seen it since so I have high hopes. This would be a nice way to vary the diet if it works out.

You can see the cat in the pic second from the bottom on his perch on the left side if you look hard. Luckily he lays on this shelf so it is easy to get food to stay next to him.

Nice roomy tank they got. In the first pic, the grannie's hiding behind the heater (that was before you moved it), right?

I'm curious to see its growth rate, that is if fleshy foods will make him grow noticeably faster than average. Please, update us every now and then on his size.

That was a pic I took a while ago and meant to post it up to show what he was doing. Everything has been secured to the walls so no one can get behind any heaters anymore. He has been growing a bit but nothing like Necros, but I don’t think he has been readily eating as long either. I’ll be sure to keep this one going for the life of this fish as there really isn’t much on them. If anyone else has anything to add about a past or present granulated please don’t hesitate.
