Okay, so one male that is about 4" (the one I have now), and 3 females and a male I guess. Actually I might get 2 females and a male. I know they are pretty cheap, but I recently have spent a lot on fish stuff. Well, I'll go force/convince my parents to take me soon. Thanks for the help everyone.

Tell them you'll get rid of the 10 gallon to get a 20 gallon. It's not another tank it's just a replacement lol. As for the cons no matter what the female will get beat up some how and another male doesn't really do much he'll do the same thing unless he's like my con peanut who won't hurt a fly. Yeah you should get a pair in a matter of a week or 2 already producing fry if you get like 4.

Yeah, iid be keeping him with two females. When he pairs with one, loose the other. i would also add some fake plants and some small peices of driftwood for extra cover until they sort themselves out.

I would, but they don't even let me bring up anything about getting fish tanks at all. I'm hearing some different opinions...so I'll get a male and 2 females? Or just 2 females?

Adding another male will only up the overall aggression. It will stem the aggro towards the females until he kills the new male and then you're back to where you started. IMO the one male with two females will be best.

That's why I'm thinking of trading in the male I have for a smaller one.

Have you thought about Rams? Or keyholes?? It may throw a stick in your spokes(experiment).. But I think a different species would work out better for you...
