im afraid that ive been sucked into the dark side of arowana and convinced myself of getting a jardini instead of a giant gourami.....

wellcome to the club!

You won't regret your new purchase ^^ Jardini would be cool to addition... heheheh me have one too (grows fast too and not a fussy eater) Who is it gonna be living with? How big? Pics?

Get a silver or a black so you can keep lots of fish with them!

ok thank you all for the reply. and dont get me wrong i would love to have a silver aro and a GG, but i dont think that a tank larger than a 180g standard (6x2x2), fits into my overall plans of future tanks. i thought about having a GG and a jardini, but i figured it might be safer to just have the jardini. id get a silver aro but i know many would oppose to keeping one for life in a 180g tank, although i really dont think they need a tank as wide as they are, ive never seen one act as if it was a 2x4...... if you know what i mean. but the prospect of only keeping one GG in a tank of that size i was like ok, what could i do better or possibly upgrade that to? but i told myself id get a GG before a jardini, but just watching the jardini as an adult hooked me. id like to get a silver aro but it doesnt fit into my plans if id have to upgrade to a 300g tank in the future, but the jardini fits. my other big question is if a limas shovelnosed catfish would fit into the tank with a jardini? since i heard that rtc's can go well with jar's, i dont see why one of those couldnt, but then again it may still depend on the individual jar. if i did a silver arowana, id also do the GG plus the limas shovelnose. keeping a jardini does limit me tankmate options, but im finding myself getting sucked into the hype of arowana as i progress in my fishkeeping. i once thought to myself that i wouldnt keep one because everyone has one adn theyre too common, but im getting sucked into it, they are just so majestic. if any one on here has answers to these questions please please please let me know, it will almost be the deciding factor to my future stocking plans. thank you

p.s. my future plans entail a fish room that consists of 5 180g tanks that can easily be maintained and viewed. i chose the 180g tank because a larger tank would impede on viewing and it would limit the possibility of other tanks in the room, and i thought that the 180g tank would perform well but yet not be too bulky. the centerpiece to this room is going to be a 180g saltwater tank. but i think that if i threw a 300g tank in there, it would look out of place. i also chose the 180g tank because of its versatility, not exactly big enough for rtc's or alligator gar, but big enough to where i have a wide range of options that cater to my tastes. all of the tanks will have double the filtration to be safe and maintain water parameters without trouble (fluval fx5). i will check back here in a few hours i have classes this afternoon. thank you all

in regards to pictures, i dont have the fish yet, but ive been planning out future tank setups for about a year now, and they are constantly changing, but right now i am at the point of fine tuning them, and they are almost completed. my saltwater is a very distant project that ill have to do alot of research on once my other tanks are set up, it will be the most challenging easily.
