my opinions on a 180g for LIFE:

silver aro: NO

jardini: YES

a 180G is 6 x 2 x 2

a 220G is either a 6 x 2 x 2.5 or 7 x 2 x 2

but 7 x 2 x 2 = 209.75 Gallon

If your 220G is a 6 ft tank, half of a ft in height doesnt seem a big difference..

so Id think 180G is fine, unless your planning to buy a 7ft tank

arg! mixed answers! the 220g tank would be 6x2x2.5 but thats not big enough for a silver aro? people say it isnt even big enough for a jar

apparently there is no right or wrong answer here as people have very different opinions on this subject. i made it very clear what i thought in post # 22. but this just my OPINION and you are most likely looking for the answer you WANT to hear.

if youre gonna do a 210/220, i would definitely take the extra foot of lenght over a few inches of height. the height of the tank is not gonna help much as silvers tend to stay towards the top of the tank anyways.

again, in my opinion, i say that silvers should be kept in a 240 bare minimum and jardini's in a 180. with that said, i have my silver in a 210 (7x2x2) and i plan on keeping him there for a very very long time unless i find a good reason to get something bigger.

so again, my short answer to your question is NO on the silver and YES on the jardini. you can either listen to what i say or ignore it. makes no difference to me.

good luck

sorry about that jcar, ive actually updated my plans to include a 360g tank, thats 8x3x2. just the idea of having such a large tank already then having to upgrade sounds like alot more work than is needed or necessary. im sorry if ive offended you.

offended? no way man! sorry, i just re-read my post and realized i was giving off a bad tone. 360g?!?!?!?! now we're talking. there should be no question now as to what fish you can keep in there now

i'm on the 300 gallon (8x2.5x2) for life train for a jardini
