Work full time during college. Getting promoted to a manager with more pay in middle of March, plus live with the parents. So won't be downsizing any time soon. What the size on them two tanks you have left. They big?

Congrats, and do your best to get good grades and keep the job. The biggest fish is a texas that is 8.5''. The tanks are 55g and 25g.

Also, thanks for all the kind words everyone.

I'm okay. here utilities are pretty cheap, so my two big tanks (65 and 150) don't really cost that much to run month to month and fish food is cheap.

if I have to cut back its going to be on other stuff...

since I am a wastewater treatment plant operator for a local municipality that is growing, my job for now is secure.

but it seems like everyone else I know is being laid off out there..

hang in there. it will eventually get better..

I have downsized for now but not really b/c the economy. It's more b/c my baby on the way. I fugured spend 2k on the basement to get rewired or shut down a few tanks move one downstairs, cut stock, buy new better stock, and save the 2k for the babies room and possibly look into buying a new place once I'm sure I'll keep my job.

Is it was a mixe of things as to why I downsized but I still have all my tanks as of now. Anyone want a 125 ;) lol I will upgrade when I get a new place or when it's time to build the next BIG tank.

yea im 14 my dad got laid off for 6 months now and i dont no if i want to buy tanks and use that much energy no more

yeah not only does this bring a huge cut to the families that like the fish keeping hobby...

but has any good petstores closed down because of the economy too?

my lfs almost closed down and i would have been devastated, it still might.

I'm a postal worker so I'm not worried about losing my job... yet. I did give a couple tanks away for space reasons and the impending birth of my second child. On the plus side, the two people I gave the tanks to have each brought two other people into the hobby.

But they are still talking about cutting a day of your work. then you would at least have that much less money.

My work is slowing :( No downsizing yet though I am trying to be prepared as possible.
