But they are still talking about cutting a day of your work. then you would at least have that much less money.
Actually that already was denied by congress. And I work on an evaluation schedule so it wouldn't affect me at all.

I got laid off on the 2nd of this month. I have not down sized yet, and i am still hopeful i will not have too. If the wife was to lose her jobs it would be different. I have however had to put my atv and alot of car parts up for sale that i had plans for. I guess I was lucky to have those things in the first place. Growing up we never had atv's and back up transportation, or any of the stuff that i have had since I moved out. So its not that big of a shock to go back to being broke again.:nilly:

its not just in the US...here too. :(
had to cut back a bit.
but then again i really do bare minimum anyways.
lucky me...:)

I havent had to cut back yet but we do cut back in other places, like not using the A/C unless its really needed etc. If it came down to it I already have a 55gal tore down with lids and lights and stand I can sell. I have a spare motor with one issue but it does run so I can sell that for an ok amount, planned to build it up later on. I live with my parents right now and all of our cars but one is paid off and only 3k left on one and its owed to the grandparents so we're not worried about it. Pool loan we are still paying along with a lot of bills. I am def. not in any position to be able to afford to move out =\ so I will be making a long drive to school when I start in Tampa and wont be going if I cant get finaincal aid because we cant afford it so there are some drawbacks right now. I may sell some stuff to be able to go to school. I work 20-30 hour weeks but the pay is just making it right now. I am not worried about losing my job b/c its important to the saftey of the people who come to the park so I doubt we would be a top pick to let go unless the park closed -which i dont think will happen.

I am very sorry for each of you on here who have lost your job becasue I know it can be very tough. I hope that you all find another job and are able to keep going!

Not yet, but it's soon to come!!! I have been trying new things with my filters. Instead of buying replacement sponges for $8 a piece, I went to a craft store and bought the same material by the yard. $11 a yard, which makes 20 replacements. The house I live in is including water/electric/garbage/sewage. so it doesn't matter what I run in that aspect. Now I just have to work on a food recipe that will help cut the fish food bill. I'm thinking about buying Koi pellets in bulk and just soaking them in vita-chem for a main staple. Once a week give them beefheart and/or shrimp. I just have to do some shopping around. These times suck!!! I know I have taken for granted the luxuries I have had. Makes me rethink a lot of things!!! I hope everything works out for everyone!!!

I just got a 125g, but it is going to take a few months to get up and running due to lack of finances. That is my largest and last tank I will be able to get until I get out on my own.

the hubby and i are trying to put back more money-so we are buying more generic brands of groceries and what do you know? it all tastes the same! we've been ripped off all along haha.

i dont go out just shopping anymore, and dont buy things unless i need it now.. becoming quite the tightwad. you never know if the layoffs are coming your way..

This has been on my mind for some time now.I work for Cat. You may or may not know. They are moving 2 plants out Illinois.Well back in Oct of 08 a tranfer to a plant in the next town over became available.I put in for it & got it.This plant is closer to home so heck yeh.In Dec. 08 they announced the plant I WAS at & 1 further south would be laying off indefinitely !In other words permanently. 814 people laid off at the plant I was at alone.Well so far the plant I'm in now has laid off some people, but there are no plans to move it out of state. The folks who have been laid off should get called back at some point.I'm not out of the woods yet, may still get the axe. However I'm better off than I was.I have cut back on many things, my aquariums will be one of the last.I feel for the OP it could happen to anyone.
