Balas slow growers? tell me so

Come to think of it I've never seen a full grown one either :WTF:

So once they reach full length they die haha. Maybe I will try to power feed this summer when they all get thrown in a bigger tank
I see lots of foot long Bala's in my area. They seem to be a favourite among Australian fishkeepers. Heres a pic. Roughly 11".
ugh I would KILL to have mine be that big. Ill give them 1 year to double there size or Im going to manually stretch them out, or the catfish will eat them. Their choice!
I had a 12" bala until recently. (air pump failed at night and it was dead by morning along with the 2 large salmontails) I had it for around 4 years, it took approx 3 years to reach full size
Thank you. it's only recently been set up and scaped. My first REAL attempt at a planted tank (other than throwing plants in wherever and having them survive a couple of weeks!)
i have 2 balas and my biggest one is about 4 5 inches and it took about 2 years and i had him when he was tiny, and the samller one is about 3 inches had him for a couple months, they grow pretty slow.
