Based on the age of your current ball python, I'd say that you could hold off on getting a male until at least next year since it's better to wait until a female is two to three years old and of sufficient weight before attempting to breed her. You can usually find proven breeder males for pretty cheap and don't bother getting any normal males since you'll just be wasting your money. Also, it's always a good idea to grow out your own females in order to save some money and be assured of their health.
Now exactly how many female and mall ball pythons do you want to have at this point in time? I have a few suggestions for both the quantity department and the morph department, but I'd like to see what your goal is for this year and how much you are willing to spend.
Use the website that muffywrx suggested; it works great and can show you what you'd be looking at for possible offspring from pretty much any pairing.
Oh the ball that i have now is actually a male and is about a year old. At the show next weekend my goal is to get a baby male spider for next year. An adult female norm to try and breed this november, and a baby female pastel. The pastel will be bred with the spider when old enough. Ive been looking around at the vendors who are gonna be there and have found the female norm and male spider that im gonna be getting. If i find a pastel i like or even a super pastel then ill get her. And hopefully i get the 3 1/2 foot norm some guy is giving me.
So that would total 5 by the end of the month.
But my neighbor has a pair of norms that are a few years old. Female is 4 foot male is 3 1/2 and she is asking 150 for them. Dont know if its worth it or not but thats something i got to think about.
This year all im lookingf at doing is breeding the norms since this is my first time and if im succesfull ill pick up more snakes next summer.
