Ball Python Feeding Question

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
my snakes will eat both back and forth.I think it should be fine if you warm it up real good in warm water, use tongs and walk it with the tongs around to the snake as if it was alive, the warmth is the key,if the rat gets wet from the warming I pat it dry a bit.

Nah bro, Mine eats frozen NP. If yours is having trouble switching just don't feed him for a couple weeks extra (most snakes can go without food for months) Stick a mouse in a cup of water and throw him in the microwave for a minute and a half. Let it thaw for a little bit... enough to where you can stand touching with your fingers, put him in the tweezers and move it around infront of your snakes nose .. And what jason said ^^

Ive always read though to not use a microwave. Not bashing your idea but I just want to stress that doing it with a microwave is discouraged.I will try to find some info on it if you want.Again, not trying to bash you, just being careful.

I have done it for years and no problem.. I used to warm the water and stick them in there but I found that a minute gets it thawed out completely and quicker.. they never denied it so I figured there was no problem there. Good luck either way

I looked alot of it up just now, frozen rodent company says its ok to do it with large rats but to be very carefull and how it cooks from the inside out,you dont want hot spots and burns, even on low its risky but they say never to do it with smaller rodents. From what they put,I wouldnt risk it,most every other site just says not to do it.
