BALL PYTHON- Urgent

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Glad to hear you took the plunge miguel I think for your first snake ( if in fact that is the case) You made a great choice .You will have years of pleasure from your new friend !! Get some pics up as soon as you can.

I'm not sure what your fish room temps are, but you want it to be 80-84 in the tank with a hot spot of 90-94. However you acheive that, it doesn't matter so long as the temps are in that range. Given that the tank is in the fish room, humidity shouldn't be an issue...the air should be humid enough if you have a lot of tanks...

They like places to hide in their enclosure. Place a hide over the hot spot and another one in a cooler area of the tank. The water bowl goes somewhere in the middle.

Good luck...balls rock!

am allready in love..just nervous to ascertain whether it will feed....

Congrats on your fat sausage Miguel! Yeah, wild and captive farmed can be a bit more "bitey" but they aren't an aggressive species I wouldn't say... every animals an individual though.
Yeah, as long as you have the temps elevatethis stated it should be fine. If it's "out and about" and not hiding you could maybe offer a mouse... I've heard about the white/black thing, but it's not really a common occurance or a trait that stays with the animal over all time.

Loco in comparison to room temperature, your body can seem like a nice warm place to go. Underneath a t-shirt or whatever in the dark and in relative warmth is often welcomed.

get some pics miguel ;)

okay , she loves me.. climbs to my hand, tongue wiggling in an out, crawls all over my hands from one to the other. I take care of the tanks and feed fish and turtles with her entwined around my left hand, not even blinking a python eye....

Should I try to feed, guys?

Yeah I would Miguel, as long as you have the higher end temperatures to allow successful digestion. If your freeding frozen, thaw it and then heat it up a tad with maybe a hair drier or on a heatmat or whatever. It might not even need to be heated for her. Watch your fingers though, don't go near with your hands with mouse scent on them.

I always thaw mine out in hot water ftom the faucet by the time the rat is thawed the water has cooled down enough to feed .

I think I will put in an extra heat mat under the terrarium...the lamp it has doesn't give the temps you guys mention....

and then I'll feed her..

one question: I traded her for 4 Kingsnakes that lived in the exact same place and never, ever, refused to eat...are conditions for balls so much different?
