My lfs got a shipment of Atyopsis muluccensis, and I'm wondering if anyone has kept these before. I'm thinking of getting a couple for my 30g community tank and any words of wisdom would help.

I've done my homework, but as I'm sure everyone knows that what you read on paper doesn't necessarily work in the aquarium.

Thanks guys.

I was thinkin about getting some bamboo shrimp too, my LFS has some typically over 2 inches, and brown. Is this what your speaking of too? What are the tankmates in the 30 G as of now? sounds like a nifty idea, i say throw a few in.

I never got them , because they were like 15$ a piece!

i had one in a 55 and he was fine but my pacu started to get bigger and i didnt trust him. so i put the shrimp in my 20 gal long and he was fine for months untill we lost power for a few days and he died just before i bought the generator. they love hanging in a current and catching stuff in the flow.

now that i think about it, i just moved some fish around, does anyone know if a bamboo shrimp would be picked on by 2 convicts in a 20 gal. long

Yup, sounds like the same thing...they have a cream stripe on their back. I guess they get more red once they are in an established tank and fed properly.

My 30 gallon consists of platys and my Leporinus desmotes. I keep that tank for feeders mainly but my girlfriend loves the tank and it's in our bedroom so I want to keep it nice looking. I found some at my lfs for $10, so I may pick a couple up and see how they do.

From what I read, I would think they would be lunch. One of the common points I read was to keep them in a tank where they will have no threats because of the modified pincers being "filter fans"...this leaves them with no defense at all. Again, this is what I've read...I don't have any personal experience yet.

did anybody see them on Planet Earth? pretty good shot of 'em

i was thinking a getting a few too but my peaceful community is about to go kaput. soo.......
