Bamboo Shrimp - Atyopsis moluccensis

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have kept them. They ate crushed flake food. Just dropped it into the filter outlet where the shrimp alsways hung out and they just gobbled it with the fans they have instead of pinchers.

They were in my Payara tank. They lasted about a month in there. They were kept with feeder goldfish for about 6 months prior to thier demise.

I'de recommend them.....but only with other flake eating fish.

From what I read, I would think they would be lunch. One of the common points I read was to keep them in a tank where they will have no threats because of the modified pincers being "filter fans"...this leaves them with no defense at all. Again, this is what I've read...I don't have any personal experience yet.

I was thinking of picking a few up for my Buttikoferi to enjoy

I've done a lot of reading on these guys, as I wanted some as well.

Unfortunately they're pretty much lunch to a lot of fish. They have no defenses as said.

They need to have a fast flowing jet to simulate the streams they live in, since again as said they filter their food from the current.

All I know about these guys is they are very shy so probably wouldnt do well with the convicts, they are extremely sensitive so acclimate slowly and do any water changes carefully. I had one in my 29 community tank and after I returned from vacation he was deceased. The only thing in the tank that was off were nitrates between 0-15ppm (sitter was overfeeding). Hope that helps!
