I have heard a few times that people that are breeding for size will throw a little mastif blood in the line. I'm pretty sure that the one in the pic has mastif in its blood a few generations back.

I'll take the one on the right. That fat one is kinda ugly.
 
i couldn't find what they were bred with or eny info on them in that matter. ill keep looking for info on them...but heres another pic:
