I believe that people who want this breed banned don't understand dogs at all. Why not ban the cocker? I have been bitten twice by two different cockers but never by a pit bull. My point is that pit bulls, just like any other breed, have the potential to do damage but it's never the dogs fault. It is always the owners fault, they mistreat the dog or don't offer correct education and socialization to the dog or maybe they are simply irresponsible, and so on. Dogs are not for anybody.

i agree!!

Did the cocker ever dominate you, maul, a child? Ripped your face off, could that Cocker have killed you? I think thats a bad reference point!

I guess my point was not understood. i meant that the outcome of the breed also depends on the owner. A person who mistreats his dog and gives it a horrid life is much more prhone to have a dangerous animal . I meant that people should be held more accountable when there animals do such acts and they should be more resposible as to not let there anuimals be alone with anione without the owners supervision.

Is it important that the owner is accountable after the fact? or is it better that these people never have that dog , and no one gets mauled?

both are important.....but it depends if your talking about everyone in general or just the people that can't treat their dogs right.

im sure just about everyone on this thread would agree with me when i say i'd love to sucessfully be able to stop those curtain people from getting pits. but at this moment there isn't a whole lot enyone can do. the only thing right now to stop those people are to ban pits. and i don't want to even think about pits being ban. its not always the dogs fault and its not always the owners fault. it is what it is...wish it could change but doesnt look like its going to right now....

true...banning breeding them would be better then banning the breed.

Happy to see that the majority of the people that have posted here understand the issue, and that the problem lies, mostly, with bad owners.
