If they could ban a certain type of person, or the bad people who abuse them then they wouldn't have to. But in this politically correct world it's easier for them to ban the dog.

I know some good people who own this breed and imo the breed is attractive but I know more sadly who own this breed and probably shouldn't own a dog at all. Kinda sad when you see more than half the local shelter is pit bulls.

Most people don't understand pits (let alone any dog for that matter).
It's just like any other pet, snake, lizards, dogs. Any animal can be unpredictable, so are they going to ban any animal that has the potential to be dangerous?????

Nope but it makes the public feel better if they don't have to deal with it. People who don't know dogs, just believe the hype and think all pits are bad in general no matter who owns them.

These are the people who don't want to live in neighborhoods where someone owns one. Or the people who see an incident on tv and think any pitbull would do the same thing. And of course these dogs being in the wrong hands helps get them banned. It all goes back to the fact it's less trouble to ban them all together than to say certain people can't own them. I know they really shouldn't be but it's similar to states banning piranhas. Someone or a couple people screwed up and now everyone pays.
 
I've been around dogs all my life and owned many breeds of dog but the only one I've had to kill to save a human was a pit.

Can they be a good dog.... yes, but why is it that most of the people that have these dogs are compasionless hatefull people.... Dogs are what their masters turn them into.

I don't want to see a ban but I do want to see some serious regulation.
