Ban the Lounge.

There seems to be an increasing number of threads started for the purpose of stirring up controversy. They have nothing to do with the hobby, just someone's personal opinions. They almost always slide downhill into religion, flaming, personal attacks etc. Someone else doesn't agree and a war starts until a mod shuts it down. There are hurt feelings, name calling, ugly pictures and worse. Finally someone spills there personal demons and threatens to leave, over and over and over, etcetera, etcetera ad nauseum. For this reason the Lounge as it exists should be permanently closed until everyone learns to play nice in the aquarium. So what does everyone think? The lines are open to share your opinions, as long as we agree. Post now before it's closed.

unfortunately if people can't grow up and not take things and make things personal this is were its headed.

I personally enjoy the lounge...its a great place to talk about random things get some good laughs and read peoples personalities.

Maybe the staff here should make a Political/Religious section so that all the controversial crap can be monitered and kept in tighter reigns

I think everyone needs to stop acting like little *****es and being so sensitive to someone else's opinion or beliefs. We live in a country where you have freedom of speech if you are willing to accept the criticism you will receive for voicing that freedom.

Debates and the challenges that come with them are welcome here. Discussion forums are in existence for the purpose of giving opinions. It's the personal and generalized attacks that are not to be tolerated.

i agree but i would like to add sexism to the no no's list! i take being told to go play with my dolly ... very insulting of my sex/age and my intelligence.

I like the lounge and it should remain as is however any members breaking the rules should be banned.I have just read some of the posts that led to this and it's ridiculous. I know the mods have given alot of warnings in the past to certain members for making obscene posts and after 3 warnings u should get the boot it's that simple.I agreed to mfk's posting rules and follow them i think all our members should be held accountable for their actions no matter the post count for better or worse 3 strikes your out.I want to discuss fish and pets here if i want sex, drugs,drama there are a million other sites for that i want to enjoy clean happy fishy fun check your personal troubles at the door.

I think lounge should be kept open. I love all the random threads that are made. example: magic trick with tank and fish, customer tricks, etc. I think it would be a bit boring if we ONLY talked about fish 24/7.

And for the offense, and people made fun of, well, it is not like everyone gets made fun of. You can not possibly stop jokes and teasing. Flame Wars will obviously start sometime or another if there is teasing going. Thats life.
