Baramundi Question

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i had a barra about a year ago. i got him when he was 1" and in about 5 weeks he was over 4". they grow insanely quick! they are a predator, but not naturally aggressive. watching a barramundi stalk its prey is one of the coolest things i have ever seen. i kept mine with south american cichlids and it was fine, although it wasnt very active because it was the smallest fish in the tank. they go great with other native fish such as rainbows, scats and monos. hope all this helps

so john you own one?

yeah i have a sara trying to do a austrailian biotope with a bara but i guess its a very bad idea

Actually no its a good idea. At a lfs I go to somtimes, they have barra with sartogas al the time. They once had the biggest sartatoga I've ever seen about 3-4feet with 5 barras that were about 12" in a relatively small aquarium, the barras stayed right out of the way cuddled up together

Damn.. want a baramundi so bad.. but will wait to see what size yours tops out at for a little.. lol 4ft I can handle... 6ft tends to get a little crazy more in the pima tankmate territory.

i can get them cheap as here (20 bux AU at around9 inches.). big s it is a very bad idea to purchase one unless you own something around 30foot long 12 foot wide and 6 foot deep. also john what is ie i would like to see your cams never can.
