So...We all love fish and fishing but what hooks do you use my self personally i hate barbed hooks on catch and release. What is the point you would rather rip a fishes lip off and catch it and cause them harm than lose a fish.I think that all barbed hooks should be banned for coarse fishing. The people that all ways use barbed hooks are little kids that have no clue how to fish.It annoys me so much:( Please write your opinions.

Barbed all the way. I dont know about you but Im not going to lose a monster fish cause I dont have a barb on my hook. Luckily in the U.S. we dont have that "ban it all cause Im soft and it hurts my feelings" like you all do across the pond...sadly it is getting more and more that way here. :(

:iagree: if they are goin in your belly:popcorn:
me personally if i catch it i'm probably goin to eat it:headbang2
i love fishing and relaxing but i love eating them just as much!:D

in california theres regulations that state when it is ok and when its not ok to use barbs. barbless hooks are required when you are catching fish that are threatened or fish that have strict catch and release regulations on them. i find this to be a great way to run regulation of barbs. if its gonna be dinner then you dont want to lose it because you are using barbless hooks. but if your gonna put it back then you'd rather not tear it up in the process.

i only use barbed but am thinking of switching all my catfish rigs to circle hooks without barbs because i caught a 10 pound preger and could get the treble out.

Barbs serve one purpose - to hold the bait on. If I didn't bait fish, I wouldn't bother with barbs ever. Proper pressure is what keeps the fish on, not the barb. Plus, it's easier to remove from you if you hook yourself.

That being said, to each their own.

I agree. I bend the barbs down on my hooks. I don't eat fish, and rarely use bait so I don't see any point in using barbed hooks.
