I am a very guilty Bio overloader, 11 med rays(70% of the bioload) + tankmates in a 6 footer... gravel would sign my death warrant.

I want to build a plywood tank and I was wondering if you could mix sand or put it on top of your final coat of epoxy. This way it would be esthetically pleasing without the hassle of sand. Any thoughts? What type of sand would work best for this application?

sand. i used play sand from the hardware store. worked fine for my 2 motoros.

This may sound like a derail but will rays be fine with river rocks? These are the big rocks about 1.5-3" in diameter. you can get them from any Home Depot or Lowes.

the problem is is there will be lots of waste that falls down in the rocks that may cause a problem.
