Bare tanks (no decor)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Not sure... Its too big to fit in my puffer tank and it was expensive. So I am thinking to maybe lay it on its side as an uprooted stump instead. But then the pearsei also has been enjoying the swim space so who knows what Im going to do now.

Glad its working.... mine is reverting back to her old ways

Well so far so good, but I did see the Koliba do a dash away from it for no reason last night. I love the fact the weeksii is all over the endli and no bites.

Its weird its like they both have fish they hate...mine is the ornate yours is the koliba

Well fish can develop dislikes for other fish sometimes, though with you we don't see any cause. Maybe it was something that happened during lights out. The only fish that has snapped back at my curu and lived to tell is the odoe in my tank, but you can tell he dislikes her when compared to the bichirs and sun cat.

About 1/5 of his threads are about him asking for a job...

Moe you bring up a good point. Actually something i was wanting to ask about but never got around to it. See im not into passing on human traits to our fish. Like one protecting another. Im still amazed at how much i under estimated polys in terms of intelligence and behavior. At first i thought they were simple and nothing complicated like cichlids can be.

Even though the dabola can be a pain i really cant say shes a problem. The only polys that ever gave me serious issues is my ornate. Ripped tails off other polys and whacked a gold dust. Now i've been noticimg that their are times when the ornate approaches the sen (got beat up pretty bad from the ornate 6 months ago) the sen will rush over to the big endli.

Could the endli's issue with the ornate be out of protection ? Like you said i have no idea whats going on during lights out.

I wouldn't put certain emotional or human traits pass fish, they are more complex then we think, so I like to believe. I'm not sure if you seen it, but my curupira protects my smaller bichirs specifically, and even the larger ones time to time from me when I get close to them on the outside of the tank obviously (during water changes he lets me pet him lol). I posted a thread showing him coming from across the entire tank to flare at me when I was looking at the ornate, it took me a few times cause it wasn't the first time he did it, that just happened to be the time I was prepared to capture pictures. I've seen wolves referred to as guard dogs of their tanks many other times as well, specifically aimara, so I mustn't be the first to experience this. There is an old YouTube video now, of a female umbee, acting as if she was mourning the death of a male umbee she was paired with for a number of years. I can't remember his YouTube name but his name is skip and he's a breeder for cichlids I think it's like fishlaw with some numbers. Anything is possible though, right?
