Barebottom isn't that bad :P
I don't actually have any bare tanks I plan on making my 75 barebottom once I get another hundred and fifty dollars to spend. They give a really clean feeling, especially if you have fairly bright lights and clean glass. It's almost sort of like a decorating theme...breeding pair of fish, bare shiny tank, sponge filter, heater, and maybe a terra cotta pot or PVC pipes.

This isn't what I was describing, but nonetheless it's still a nice BB tank(in my opinion...)

I go bare bottom in my 180 with my rays and gar. Im thinking of adding a lil larger gravel. I feel like my fish live in a mirrored box. Bare bottom makes it east fo rme to suck the rays deuces out everyday

I have a gravel, river pebble mix and I'm thinkin of goin barebottom cause of the big fish I keep, iv been takin gravel out every tank clean butstill have enough to cover the bottom, I don't no wat il do yet, I wanna change it up by barebottom or big gravel, like at least 10mm+ , not sure, the less gravel uhave the cleaner the tank but would athin layer of chunkygravel bebad?....

Oh & it depends how nice the bottom of ur tank is, I cut out my weirs and have 3 glass patches blockin the old holes, not very attractive at all

^filter company represenatives! the fish at the local asian supermarkets seem to do alright with barebottom tanks! i think that that style of aquascaping is big in japan...everything is big in japan lol
