Barn Owl Care

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Other than the sources you've probably already found on the net using google, I'm not sure on what else there is. I know the barn owl trust UK has a bit of info on aivaries and care. It seems that in the US you can't keep owls, and i don't think anyone on here from the UK keeps any on here either. On the books front or other sources, I think there would be a bit more on captive care of birds of prey in general than specifically owls or barn owls. Is there a bird of prey keepers specific forum? I suppose a UK forum would be more useful in this case, but i could'nt find one.

Hi Davo. Thanks alot for your reply. I'll give all those things you mentioned a try and I'll post back on what I found. Thanks for suggesting more ideas, greatly appreciated :)

Yup it is! Jake Casson? I'll give them a try too, I did ask another breeder closer to me on that website but they didnt really have much to say regards to avairy etc, will try them tonight. Cheers :)

Yeah for the time being, I recently had my iguana viv broke (sigh) so I'm in the middle of setting a new one up for her, its going to take a while, but I'd rather take the time than build a crappy one. Its gonna be a little expensive too so I'm gonna focus on that for a while. Once that is sorted I'm looking towards having a 10 footer in the kitchen (only space I have left lol!) for rays, I'm not sure if it will happen as of yet but fingers crossed. Its just so much time, I wanna make sure I'm prepared for it. Im focusing alot on snakes at the moment, wanna get some more in the future. What rays have you got now? I'll check that link out. Cheers xxx

Just 3 retics and this new yepezi, only just got into rays. Just finishing stocking my 6x2x2, looking stunning now and will post pics once finished. Getting a recused tiger shovelnose this week then blue arowana will complete collection. Here's my mbu which I lost a while ago, gutted

Hiyer, Yer Im 16 lol, I dont think anyone else would say Im knowledgeable tbh but cheers lol! :D Stunning rays, it just makes me want to have them again. Does any of yours sort of bounce up the side of the tank with their bellies against the glass when theyre hungry? Mine used to do it till you fed him, it was SO cute. I've never seen a blue arrowana, you'll have to send me a pic when you've got it. I was going to get an mbu a while ago but ended up taking a break from fishkeeping for abit lol. Btw, check your inbox!!! Ive gotta say considering you only just got into rays ya doing fab!!

Yeah their always swimming up the sides even when not hungary, mates love them. Want some P14s now, just sadly had to turn down a 13" tigrinus cat for £350, gutted but need to save some cash. Most mbu's dont reach adults, and the few that do will be up for rehoming when 2 foot plus as too big. Rescue one but risky with rays but ive done it.
