You think it could live with the Jd, GT, firemouth and con in a 300? I was going to put it in the 90 with the others for now but I might put it in my 20 that has all my bio for 300 just for about a month and a half two months tops.
My Midas lived in a 190 with GT's, JD's and convicts so I'd say no prob. (But the Midas got killed by the Amarillo in my avatar). Even that same Amarillo bothers no one else.

My Midas and Amarillo did hate other big cichlids, Viejas for example. So from my experience adding another big cichlid like a Jag or Festae will more likely result in fights then keeping them with smaller ones like GT's. But then again your tank is bigger then mine.

Well, I went back up there and it turns out they had 3, 2 males and 1 female. I spoke with the fish dept manager and it turns out they were her fish to begin with. She had to tear her tank down so back to the store they went. Definitely Midas so I bought the larger of the two males for $8.99. :)

Guess well see how it goes with the others soon enough....

Gonna qt him for about a week then move him into the 90.

good luck! where is the pic?! lol but yeah im not so sure things will go so well with that many fish in the 90g and him but once in the 300 they should all be fine, midas are definitely agressive but seem to be much more tolerant of tankmates on average (and with enough space) than red devils do, of course sometimes there are individuals that just cant be kept with anything else but sounds like he grew up in a tank with those other fish so he should be ok

Gonna try to get some pics after I get him into the qt tank. Store tank temp is 75-76 and my qt is in my garage and it sits at about 85 here in Fl. Hot!!

Taking my time acclimating him to the elevated temps.... And he's too big for my pitcher so he's in my daughters red beach pail.... Lol. Gonna have to get a 5 gallon from here on out.

I think I might keep him in the 20 till the 300 is ready in about 2 months. He'll be by himself and that way all of my fish will go in together, hopefully with the festae and or jag...

Wow.....!!! Glassbanger for sure. Settled in, dug a pit, ate all the food i fed him. Fish is not shy and likes to eat. Sorry pics are so bad but camera sux and havent bought a new one yet.....

definately gonna wait and introduce everyone into the 300 at the same time. My daughter named him Brock:D

You're not leaving a 6" Midas a lot of room in a 20 gallon tank with a bag of bio media sitting in the same tank for 2 months.

Yeah, the bio is going into a 55 gallon plastic can with a hob. I took the pics before I figured out where I was gonna put it. I figure ill just dump the water from his water changes into the 55 to help seed the bio couple times a week. He likes playing with the bag. I might have to throw in a few more plastic plants for him to play with and a piece of driftwood...

Im not sure Im going to put him in with the other fish yet. The 300 should be built by June 6th or so and I figure 2-3 weeks to ship so I should have water in it by July 1st. I'll probably keep him in the 20 till monday and then Im going to move him into the 75 gallon that is going to be the sump for the 300. Ive got 2 hobs and 2 canisters on my 60, so I'll probably pull one of the hobs off that for the next month and let him have the 75 till the 300 is ready for fish.

He should be fine in a 75 for the next month and a half right?

yeah the 75 will be plenty for him, he would be fine in that tank for as long as he needs to be in there, definitely looking forward to seeing that 300 set up all the way ;)
