well i got the green light from the boss so its now time to try a few designs. please let me know what you think and don't hold back.
the basement is unfinished so i put together a few quick ideas on sketch up. the red box is a beam and can't be moved. the walls are set and will not be moved. the open tank area is 18' wide and 30" deep. the dark brown is a planned bar under the beam ( wet bar behind drain plumbing is installed ). the light brown is some kind of stand arrangement. the tank sizes are dual 120's around a 240. 48 x 24 x 24 and 96 x 24 x 24. i think the 24" depth is perfect for the 30" unfinished space. the width limit of 1 big tank is 8' due to stairs. i have a landing and a turn to get in the basement. anything larger than 8' just wont happen.
i thought about one big plywood tank but want to keep the plumbing under the tanks in the stands and want to keep different fish. i think the MTS will allow this better than one big tank.
please let me know what you think. i am undecided about the second 120 in the back corner. i could go with three 120's and nothing in the corner but thinking about the bar seat at the end being right next to a big tank is really appealing.
