basement design ( sketchup pics )

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The dehumidifier produces warmth from running. It doesn't make the air feel more dense.

hvac control thats my bag baby!

assume for this discussion a given temperature of 70 deg and a high humidity above 65%. now a breeze blows across your arm. it will feel warm. given the same conditions of temp at 70 but a low humidity under 20% and the same breeze blows across your arm again. this time it fools cool. the "feel" of the air is different because of the humidity even though temp is the same 70 degrees.

the way we feel temperature is based on how much moisture can be pulled from the skin. if humidity is high the air is saturated with water molecules. little moisture gets moved off your arm into the air so the breeze feels warm.

on the converse if the humidity is low there are fewer water molecules in the air so more can be pulled off your arm into the air so it feels cool.

sashimi your right about how it "feels". i think rachel is saying that a compressor now running to dehumidify will be giving off heat just from running. this will cause a rise ( i think small though ) as if i didn't run one.

ok i got some great news today ( i think ). my cousin said i can have his 120. 60 X 18 X 24. not exactly the width i wanted but still will work. i changed up the plans a bit. on the pic the black rectangles are drain locations. behind the bar its a 3" drain pipe coming out of the floor. the mechanical room has the furnace ( green square ), hot water tank ( tan circle ) and a floor drain ( black rectangle ). there is a finished bathroom downstairs so i can set the tank up, cycle it and get the tropical stuff out of my 45 for now. the goldfish will appreciate it for sure.

for filtration i want to keep them all seperate. i don't mind doing water changes on each so once the bar is finished i will have a sink next to the tanks or a floor drain in the mechanical room if the sink is too slow. i like the xp3 i have on my 45 so i would keep with the xp series. i have another xp4 that i will set up on the 120. i need to add some kind of HOB and keep my stock low so the xp4 can carry it. i am thinking about an xp4 and a ac110 on each. i have a feeling this will quickly need additional filtration unless i keep like neon tetras in a 120. i might my kids love neons.

i attached an updated pic. sashimi you are so the master of sketch up. this pic isn't worthy of your time compared to the stuff you can do.

Kool, so I can ask you HVAC questions. :grinno:

Yeah, that Sketchup is really a great tool. At first I thought it was difficult to learn but after using it for awhile I'll never start another project before drawing it again. Not only can you draw it to scale you can add actual components like pipes, appliances, cars etc to your sketch. I've drawn up an entire house to scale. For something that's free it's pretty awesome.

For Basement ideas... go through following steps...

1. First of all whatever you want to make...like gym, home cinema, swimming area or children's playground...
2.Remove alll the exsting problem with basement..like stop leakage, repair cracks or holes..
3. Ensure effective heating...
4.Put artificial light in the basement

Now your basement is ready for new design... so after that make a concept.and then design you basement on system.. with color combination... after that apply it...
